Class 8: Selection on Observables in Practice

Today we’ll continue our work with matching, reweighting, and regression, but in the context of real life data for Medicare Advantage.

Objectives

• Understand MA data and describe the differences between insurers, contracts, and plans in the MA data
• Calculate an ATE or ATT using regression, matching, and weighting using MA data

Activities

• Continue working with the Medicare Advantage repository
• Estimate the effect of competition on plan pricing and premiums using MA data
